Sweet Honesty by Joan Vassar

1950s Georgia was very different from that of 1950s New York, especially for gay black men. Michael leaves Georgia to pursue a potentially safer life in New York, which was more progressive during this time period. Michael befriends a girl on the bus and she points him in the direction of housing through her church. This causes him to cross paths with Alexander. The instant connection these two had captivated me and warmed my heart to see them navigate that connection despite the circumstances they face throughout the book. I cannot wait for the second one because this audio was amazing and I loved every minute of it.
