holy moly!! that ending? what the heck is happening??

This book is pure stress and intensity for the entire 500 pages. Obviously the first book left us on a cliff hanger, and this second installment picked right up at page one and did not stop the entire time. I never felt any relief for our poor kids haha. I still can't get behind a bunch of 17-18yr olds thinking they are the smartest people in the room. But I really did enjoy the chaos that ensues. Lee and Annie's relationship, loyalty and trust in each other is sooo mature and authentic. i also love how it relates to real life problems and the battle between doing what is right and necessary; head vs heart? blood vs found family?
I knew bringing in the 3rd POV would add another layer of attachment to the other side of the war- I worry about the little ones so much!!! I still struggle to feel any connection to our side characters especially when the loss of some arises.... Also we are still not sure WHAT annie and lee are??? but i have faith in them; but I don't think they need it.
