Where even to begin with this book…I’ve been in a bad depression rut last week that was getting harder and harder to climb out of and I wasn’t able to read anything…until Sweet Bean Paste. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. I was reading when I had time on my work shift and once I got home I laid in bed just to finish it. By the end I had a pile of tissues next to me and my eyes were swollen and puffy…but something in me felt like I could finally climb back to solid ground and take a breath. Sweet Bean Paste explores what the true meaning of life is and a friendship between the unlikeliest of people. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking all in one and urges you to look beyond what society deems as useful.
