The Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah

4.0

3.5, rounding up. TW: suicide, depression, death

The concept for this story was so interesting, and I wish there had been a little more world building. A few more details about just how people moved from vehicle to vehicle, how not being near sunlight affected humans (besides “seasickness”), what happened to everything in the Old World that wasn’t preserved? Once the water moved in, where did the debris go? What happened to the flooded cemeteries? Even just a few more details would have made it stronger.

Other than that, I really enjoyed reading this book. The summary made it seem like the race would be a much longer part of the story than it was, and it turned into more of an adventure than I was expecting.
