This book was beautifully written, but the subject matter was very dark. It definitely makes you think about crime, criminals, and the justice system, either affirming or contradicting your beliefs at every step. Every character experiences heartbreak and joy, just like all humans. In the end, this book serves as a reminder that we are all human, no matter what we've experienced or what we've done.
