This was tough bc the world and magic system and like 6 stars for me but the execution left a little to be desired. I wish this had been more epic - like genuinely hundreds of pages longer to really let the story unfold. Because the world is so interesting and it takes a bit of set up to get there you wind up seeing the threads of the story come together because there are only so many threads. Does that make sense? I am very intrigued to continue the series and I hope future installments can take a bit more time unfolding! I loved the world, the representation of gender identity and sexuality, and obviously loved the big cats. Could have also done with a slow burn on at least one of the romances.
