The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love
by Kristin Kimball
The remarkable story of an unlikely farmer, her unlikely romance, and the year she and her future husband found each other and started their own year-round, whole diet CSA farm. This book made me feel simultaneously exhausted just from reading about the day-to-day hard work of running a farm and intensely grateful to those small farmers who do that work year in and year out. A lovely story, well-told, even (especially) when I wanted to yell at the author to run back to Manhattan as fast as possible and find a stable job with a good retirement plan.
