Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher
2.0

SPOILERS HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE:
its not that i didnt like this book, but it was certainly interesting, it just wasnt in my range of preferences. like his mystery voice. it was really strange ive never read anything like it. i just felt out of my element in that genre, i guess. it was like fantasy mystery scifi or something. urban fantasy. i was pretty confused at first but jim butcher did a really good job of filling me in on the characters and by the end of the book i felt like i had been reading the series all along and i knew them. it was taking forever by my standards but now i see that he was just throwing all those random bits of information and scenarios out so he could tie them all up later. usually im used to the author carrying threads of thought and weaving them as the go. but this time it was just random random random and then it made sense. the frustrating thing was i started reading everything in that voice. like textbooks and my other books, like that dry narrator voice. it was not cool.
i really liked the idea of Sight. that was really awesome. and when the plot was finally introduced at the end that was really awesome as well. also i like bob the skull. why does he always say "hells bells" like literally all the time? thats slightly irritating..
overall it really wasnt bad. it made me curious about the other ones. but idk, its hard to explain it really wasnt great either. i think maybe what happened was that it just turned out alot better than i had been expecting it to turn out.
