This broke my heart to find out that a place like Nickel Academy actually existed and those cruel/inhumane things that went on in the school really happened. Disturbing, Sad, heartbreaking and inhumane. The story was captivating, engaging and paced very well. The narrator was great. I could tell which character was which. The twist at the end did surprise me in a heart-felt way. The actual history of the Doizer School for Boys is a sad, ugly part of American history. Those boys deserved so much better.
