Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Did not finish book.

I am confused if this is YA or not. I actually thought this was straight up science fiction and nothing else, but Goodreads says otherwise. Regardless if it's officially YA or not, it certainly felt like it. I was going into this expecting some traditional sci-fi story and ended up getting dollar store Hunger Games. The writing wasn't to my taste and just felt cringe. I can't really explain it, but I was reading about these people plannng a revolution and I absolutely didn't buy it. There were a lot of these empty slogans that felt almost cartoonish.
