Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth

5.0

I know that I love him, that's enough. To categorise my love as romantic or platonic - or strategic - would be an unnecessary pain.

i’ve never read a story that resonated with me as deeply as Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth. this book feels like it found me at exactly the right time in my life, where i’m caught in a similar web of emotions. as an envisionist, i see my own story playing out in its pages, mirroring my thoughts and struggles.

one of the most striking truths this book explores is how our interpretations of love and relationships evolve depending on where we are in life and what we’re feeling at the moment. that fluidity of meaning struck me hard. but the truth is, real life doesn’t often give us a susannah willing to wait and a martin who loves blindly.

as i grow older, i find myself rethinking ideas of closure and longing. maybe it’s not such a sin to live with the threads of an unfinished connection, to carry the hope for an alternative path. Sunburn captures that nuance with an honesty that’s rare and hauntingly beautiful.
