Boy oh boy am I glad this was suggested to me.
This is a YA fantasy that readers middle ground. It has some YA mannerisms of characters with poor decision making skills but the lore/gore/verbiage of a more adult fantasy reader.
This book is funny, mysterious and thrilling all wrapped into one.
Kendra and Seth are being sent to their grandparents estate for a few weeks in the summer while their parents go on a vacation. As soon as they arrive they notice that things are a little bit more interesting than anticipated when Grandpa starts listing off rules for their stay. Some of which include, not venturing into the woods, not venturing into the barn, and in general staying put right in their room or the grounds closest to the house. Well for two adventures children these rules are hard to follow and when Seth disobeys the two siblings soon discover a world like they have never known before.

I absolutely loved this story and man the ending of this book had me gripping my seat and immediately downloading the second one.
We are doing a read along for this series for the next 5 months. One book a month and it is listed on my story graph if you would like to join along with us on this gripping YA adventure of fantasy and mystery.

Overall I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, fast paced reading, and mid-line younger YA with adult elements.
