A Thousand Ships
by Natalie Haynes
I think my problems with A Thousand Ships were mostly expectation vs reality issues. I had expected a story of the Trojan War, as told by the women who have otherwise gotten short shift in this tale. But, the book was a mostly-disconnected series of vignettes about a lot of these same individual women. The vignettes didn't really seem to make make them feel more important to the story to me. They got their own 6 - 15 pages. But, that was pretty much it. I wanted their tales to blend and give a whole new perspective on the war.
