It Ends at Midnight
by Harriet Tyce
2.5 stars.
both main characters were so dislikeable. the whole thing about sylvie molesting a child felt so random and weird where it was put; I think it would've been a cool plot point but maybe not in the middle of the book when there's already something else intense going on. also didn't love at the end the implication that everything sylvie said about tess was actually meant to be about her. makes the whole book sound very unreliable since it was all in sylvies pov. I wouldn't have had an issue with an unreliable narrator if it suited the type of book but in my opinion it didn't. even thinking about the other option, that both tess and marcus used sylvies death as an excuse to blame her for everything bad they've done... no words.
anyway the plot twist with garreth was actually interesting even if the way he revealed himself felt a bit like a disney channel movie.
overall, not my type of book but it was good to pass the time.
