Dragons of Winter Night by Margaret Weis

4.0

As one could glean from the title, Dragons of Winter Night is a little more somber than in Autumn Twilight. The pacing is slower - we witness several time jumps as our main set of companions splits up and must travel across Ansalon, and the stakes are higher as our heroes are pulled ever deeper into the war. We get to experience some exciting plot twists and terribly sorrowful moments as well. Overall, the highs are higher and the lows are lower in this installment, but Weis and Hickman continue to deliver high quality storytelling and worldbuilding throughout.
