There were a lot of Arabic words and most of the time their meanings were not spelt out. I had to look it up on the internet every couple of times. If these were terms specific to the universe of the book (i know there were terms like that too), it would not be a problem, but I could not understand why so many foreign words were used in a book written in English.
Also there were many times when events did not make sense and were passed over without being properly explained.
For these reasons, I sometimes had difficulty understanding the book and wondered if this was a special case for me.
Despite these, the story was generally interesting and did not make me put the book down.
Overall, although the plot is interesting, I think it could have been taken much better. Maybe I would have liked the book more if I had read it at a younger age.
