Savages by Don Winslow
4.0

My favorite kind of movies during the summer are ones with hot guys shooting big guns through giant explosions. What can I say? I'm sort of a mix between a 15 year old boy and a 30 year old woman. Now apparently I enjoy books like this. I watched "The Death and Life of Bobby Z" on Netflix instant view a few weeks ago and I strangely enjoyed it. I did some research and found out it was a book first, written by a guy who has written a bunch of other stuff, including "Savages", which is also going to be made into a movie with a lot of awesome people (for example, the incredible hottt Taylor Kitsch from "Friday Night Lights!!!!!"), so I decided to give it a read.

Truth: I enjoyed it way too much and I'm hoping the movie is going to be awesome. Winslow is a great story teller for the post-modern age. The chapters are broken up in a really interesting way and he does this sort of psuedo-ee cummings things with words and sentences and thoughts, which I thought was different and fun. Once I started I just couldn't stop. The plot twists kept me reading and last night I stayed up and read entire second half of the novel.

I'd definitely give Winston's other works a shot, as it's summer time again and obviously I need some giant explosions, hot fictional characters and lots of big guns.
