Displacement
by Kiku Hughes
4.5 ⭐️
such an incredible, honest, & beautiful way to tell a hard story!
this graphic novel follows a young girl who is basically displaced in time (aka time travel) to the Japanese American internment camps, that her own grandmother and many others endured in WWII.
brutally honest but gentle, this captured the story so well and i cried and laughed and smiled and cried more.
makes me realize how little i knew about the Japanese American internment camps… but if this is how history was taught to me in school i woulda been a scholar!
