The Red Umbrella
by Christina Diaz Gonzalez
It feels weird to rate a book that is based on someone’s actual experiences. Who am I to rate things that actually happened? I guess with that being said, I’m going to rate it anyway. It was definitely an interesting story about a topic I really knew nothing about. The writing was pretty juvenile in some places but that is the audience they’re aiming for so I won’t judge that much. I don’t know why they don’t teach us more about these things in school because I found it to be a really interesting look into what happened in Cuba. It’s a yes from me if, like me, you had very little prior knowledge on the subject.
