I was really engrossed and enjoying this story. I love Gaskell's novels and I enjoyed the descriptions and gothic atmosphere that Gaskell painted but the ending was a big let down for me as I felt it just sort of ended. I was invested to know what was going to happen but then it was all tied up in a couple of paragraphs. I'm not a big short story reader in general but this was a good spooky gothic ghost story to pass an hour on a windy autumn day.
