Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
4.0
I really liked this book, I think it makes a powerful case in showing how society breaks you down to be compliant, yet it punishes you for not doing every single thing on the checklist of what is expected from a human.
In a way I actually envy Furukura, I wish I could be like her in the sense of being content with the situation I’m in, instead of always getting guided by ambition and wanting more. Furukura is a clerk at a convenience store, she herself claimed she doesn’t make much money, but she was very much fine with, and even content with her structure routine of an existence. All until society tried to tell her to be compliant in the way it wanted her to be.
