Parallel Lives: Five Victorian Marriages by Phyllis Rose

informative medium-paced

3.0

This came up on my library's search page when I was looking for a Sheila Heti book; Heti wrote a foreword in 2020, and I suppose I expected something Heti-esque from it, and definitely something gossipy. And - it is certainly gossipy in parts. I did find myself skimming through certain parts though. Overall, an interesting peek into marriage, not just in the Victorian times, but in the 1980s too, and all those shifting attitudes.
