“I know, Pen, we’re getting kidnapped, but don’t you worry. Enzo has a nice-looking couch for you to scratch up.”

Delivery needs work, which I’m being even less forgiving of than I otherwise would be, on account of it being co-authored. Two authors and an editor should’ve produced something more polished than this.
(pro tip: CTRL+F “however.” Take note of the # of hits. Replace at least half with “but” or another comparable synonym)

Pacing also needs work. It wouldn’t take much to convince me the events of this story took place over the course of two weeks. Which doesn’t bode well for the romance, considering how infatuated they became with each other within the first quarter of the book.

If you came for the sex, don’t bother. There’s not much to praise there, either.
