My intention for reading this book was to find inspiring vegan recipes to try as a beginner cook. I found a handful of interesting recipes to try, particularly the pesto sauce, sleepy rice pudding, joyful banana cake, and the bean stews. However, I was taken aback by the amount of Instagram influencer, pop-psychology tidbits sprinkled throughout the book, such as deep breathing, being in nature, and practicing gratitude. While I personally incorporate those practices into my holistic care and agree that they are helpful, none of the information had real depth. I moderately enjoyed this book as a cookbook, but not much beyond that. In terms of formatting, I appreciated how the book is divided into sections based on emotions and energy levels you would like to encourage within yourself. I also appreciated how the author included different variations of recipes based on affordability, personal taste, and to spice up the recipe.
