Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

Unspoken is the first book that I have read by Sarah Rees Brennan. I have to say, I found this book to be a hilarious, and completely engrossing read! I love a book that can make me laugh, and you will definitely have some LOL moments while reading this novel!

The main character in the story, Kami, is absolutely hilarious. She reminds me of myself in the way that she is snarky and sarcastic at times. I love her for this, and found her to be easily relatable. Jared, whose family has just recently moved back to town, was quite a mystery. I found him to be extremely interesting as well. The relationship between Kami and Jared was well written, and extremely intense. While it seemed that they had known each other their whole lives, Kami still did not allow them to rush into a relationship. (I found this to be somewhat refreshing, and frustrating at the same time. Ha!) There is a love triangle in the story as well, in the form of Jared’s cousin, Ash. I didn’t care for Ash quite as much as I did for Jared, but he definitely did make an impression.

Kami’s friends, Angela and Holly, were very well written secondary characters. As were Kami’s parents. I enjoyed reading about them just as much as I did the main characters in the story. I love it when an author makes you care for ALL of the characters in a story!

The storyline for the book was very engrossing. I flew through the pages just to see what was going to happen next. The book ends with quite a cliffhanger, which has left me dying to get my hands on the next book to see what is going to happen next! Gah, the wait is going to be intense, but it will totally be worth it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, so much more than I expected to. If you don’t already have it on your to-read list, you should be adding it right now!

Happy Reading!
