I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
Jennette McCurdy!!!! I gasped, I cringed, I gagged... a home run of an autobiography. She managed to maintain her innocent point of view from her tumultuous childhood while remaining honest; not holding any details back from her story. It in no way glamorized very glamorizable topics, touching poignantly on eating disorders, emotional abuse, inappropriate relationships, and manipulation, all while navigating the ups and downs of childhood fame. I love how she portrayed how complex her relationship with her mother was (and her grandma, The Creator, etc etc)... and how realistic and brutally honest she was about slips, slides, and the journey to getting better. A solid 4.5 stars. I wish I knew Jennette as more than just Sam Puckett, but now I feel I do. Now I'm rooting for her.
