Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

3.0

I started this last year and found it pretty boring, but decided to pick it up again this month and it was actually really fun for the second half of the book.
The setting is amazing and I love it so much. Ellingham Academy is such a mysterious place, but also cozy (besides the history of it).
On the other hand, the characters felt a bit flat. I felt like they were all made feel 'quirky' and 'different', but they barely had any depth.
The plot was a little slow in the beginning, but sped up towards the end and was exciting to read. Though the conclusion was very sudden and more build-up would've been a great addition. It felt somewhat anti-climatic.
The same thing happened with the romance which was just...there.
I'm excited to read more in this series though.
