Wine: A Graphic History
by Benoist Simmat
informative
fast-paced
Interesting, but I have never looked up so many maps in my life and been aware of my lack of geographical knowledge - less, "where is France" more, "where is this random vineyard/chateau in France" - or wine knowledge. When the book would be like, that brand sounds familiar, doesn't it? I would be like, no it does not, lol. I am not a regular wine drinker, but I do love to share a good pitcher of sangria while at a restaurant, so! Also some of what it said seemed contradictory to me, or the differentiation between what the author meant by a term such as "rosé" would get muddled. It would be like, there were types like white, red, and rosé, and then three chapters later it would be like, and rosé was invented! which is it!!! Anyway, I enjoyed this well enough, although it seems to assume the reader is coming in with more understanding of wine, famous vineyards, etc. than I do.
