I really loved this book! There were some really amazing quotes that I loved. One that I really liked was "But she ignored the obvious red flags and insisted they were a deep shade of orange." That line specifically hit me, because it was so relatable. And it was written beautifully, like a lot of the writing in the book.
Another quote that I liked was "“Sweet girl, the purpose is about life.” Winnie’s raised her hands in emphasis. “These books aren’t meant to train or give a history lesson. They are meant to stir the mind and the soul. To immerse you in the wonders and hardships of love, the most powerful force in the universe,”". It really hit for me because sometimes I feel guilty that I just read books for fun, and this was really validating.
I really enjoyed the main character. She was relatable, and I enjoyed seeing her arc throughout the book.
I also really enjoyed the found family trope that began to develop! I'm such a sucker for it.
The setting of the prison was interesting and different, and while some elements were very predictable, it didn't make them less enjoyable.
