This collection highlights proud queer stories through tales of pirates, zombies, witches, historical fiction, and so much more. One aspect I really enjoyed was how though the characters have their identities, they experience so much more than being boiled down to just their gender identity or sexuality. These are fully fledged out characters that experience loss, fear, heartbreak, and so so so much queer joy! This collection is a love letter to all LGBTQIA+ people, but especially to queer youth. This was the perfect read not only for Pride Month, when I read it, but for all times of year. I laughed, cried, screamed with joy and felt so many more emotions while reading this collection. Five stars all around to This is Our Rainbow, this collection was everything I hoped it to be and more.
