The Confession by Jessie Burton

5.0

The last few chapters of this felt a little rushed and, as a non-binary person who is grappling with their own thoughts on motherhood, I was disappointed with how strongly the author leaned into pregnancy and motherhood being a uniquely “female” experience towards the end (perhaps just because up until that point in the novel I had felt so seen and resonated with the author’s discussion of this topic). But everything before that was genuinely life-changing and exactly what I needed to read at this moment and I’ve highlighted so much of this book to come back to later.
