And I Darken by Kiersten White

4.0

This is a bit outside my comfort zone (on the ~E P I C~ side for my usual taste) but I'm glad I stuck with it. The first half of this dragged; HOWEVER, I now see why the backstory was necessary, because boy does that last fourth pack a punch. Excited for this series to deemphasize the romance (as I've heard it does later in the series) – frankly I'm very much not about that Mehmed life. But I'm definitely about that Lada life, even though she's deeply misogynist...?? Complex feelings. And I love Radu. I'm excited to see him & his relationships grow.
He & Nazira are soft as hell. He's been longing for a relationship without the complications of love & lust and he's going to get that with an adorable fellow queer friendo and UGH that just warms my heart.
Definitely going to continue. Hoping Mehmed dies a fiery death <3 <3
