The Time of Contempt by Andrzej Sapkowski

3.0

Phew. Finally done with my fourth witcher book aka the dairies of an emo princess. The book was all Ciri. Well 90% Ciri, with the other 10% Geralt being a moonstruck idiot over Yennifer. I'm not overly excited for next book. When I started this series it was full of monsters and lore. It had noble Geralt fighting both the monsters of myth and the monsters of society constantly looking down at him. It had Jaksier providing humor and bromantic good times. I didn't feel any of that here. Just a lot of 14 year old Ciri whining about absolutely everything like the emo princess she is.

Spoiler ranting below
WFT was up with that last scene with the Rats?! That was totally attempted rape. Whispering how you won't let the others know about the bounty on your head while undressing you implies blackmail and thus no consent. And then the Rat chick comes over saves Ciri and makes it all better with kisses and wandering hands?! That is also sexual assault!! I'm cool if Ciri is attracted to women, but that whole scenario was just creepy on a creep cracker. 'I rescued you from sexual assault! Now let me touch your boobs! It's ok cause I'm a chick!' And Ciri is still only 14. I just could've done without that entire mess. So icky and wrong. You know I've wondered if Andrezej Sapkowski hates women. After this book my answer is a firm yes.
