It's kissey-kissey time and dude pins her on the ground, and rips her dress.
........and then he sews it up for her.

If that ain't got me swooning, idk what else would.

Thought Process

20% My god this was insta-lust done in the best possible way.

22% I'm in love with the girls' "let's wake dad up by trashing him" morning rituals.

77% Damn Halsy Pal, a kid your age you sure are wiser than your dad!

Review

Winnie
Sunshine. Sweet. People's person. Love junkie. Comes from a loud, loving family. Open-hearted. Falls too easily.

Dex
Grumpy. Closed off. Hates being vulnerable. Best dad ever. Against falling for anyone ever. Grouchy jokes. Dry humour. Protective.

Hallie and Luna
These two girls were the cutest. Every morning they wake their dad up by trashing him and I lived for every such scene! Their bond with Winnie was also the super-most-cutest thing ever. The way these girls bonded with Winnie so seamlessly was so wholesome to read about.

Side Characters

Ellie— Cannot wait for her love story with Gianni. Maybe it's going to be reverse grumpy x sunshine/ enemies to lovers. Whatever it is, I'm in.

Frannie— Winnie's compassionate stepmom. I've only read Millie's story in this whole series, and I've seen more of Frannie in here than there. I'm also really interested in reading about her lovestory with Winnie's dad. Bcoz of Winnie, Millie and Felicity were anything like Luna and Hallie, there's no way I'm missing out!

Story

Spice level— Okay this was steamy in the most satisfying way possible. Not too many scenes. But whatever was there was sizzling hot in a bone-warming way. He's a delicious, rough, grunting, growling grump in bed. And then it's the after care time and you wouldn't believe it's the same guy doing the nicest of things for you. Sewing ur dress, and brushing your hair, like daaamn.

Storyline— This was a grumpy x sunshine, single dad with two daughters, neighbors, age gap, small town romance and the story did justice to every single aspect of the mentioned tropes! I wouldn't say this is a book you can read in one sitting coz it is a bit long. But if u do find the time it's one of the most fulfilling stories. The author's writing style is effortless and captures your attention right away. And there's enough humour, and amusement along the way to keep you entertained. It's a great light-hearted read, until the angsty part hits but even it's just cute and hilarious and so heartwarming!

Quotes

“Girls, could you please stop telling everyone you meet embarrassing things about me?”
“What kinds of things should we tell them?” Luna asked.
“How about saying nothing at all if you don’t have anything nice to say? Wasn’t that what Bambi said?”
“It was Thumper who said that, Daddy,” corrected Hallie.
“Whatever. Just no more telling people things like I snore or I swear or I have hair in my nose.”
“But you do,” Luna said with a laugh.

“You’re really on a roll with women, aren’t you?”

This guy really managed to piss off every female within a 5 mile radius from him, lol. He's really selling the grouchy part. Like him all the more for it

“You have a crush on Dad, Winnie!”

“Sounds like it. My friends throw me down and rip my clothes all the time. And then offer to sew them.”

“It feels like you came over here for something other than smoked paprika.”
“Maybe I did.”

“The day we met, I thought you were so innocent and sweet.” [...]
“The day we met, I thought about biting you.”
“Fuck. Who are you?”

D: What the hell is going on over there?
W: That’s my singing voice.
D: Jesus.

“Yes. I have my family, I have you, I have my cat, I have a new job waiting for me—how much more can I ask for?”
“You can ask for anything,” she said fiercely. “And you’d deserve it.”

Damn I just got all teary eyed over this friendship.

.“I got some jelly on the counter,” she told me. “And on the floor.”
“Great.”
“And Freddie Purrcury stepped in it.”
I frowned. “Even better.”
