What is wrong with me? Everybody loved this book. I...liked it. :-/

I don't know how much I was influenced by the slow, low, raspy drawl of the narrator. But I felt depressed almost from the beginning. Both characters had such traumatic pasts. Their present wasn't a cake walk either. I felt weighed down and sad the whole time I listened to this book.

I loved both Jimmy and Shane. They were both such incredibly good people. I also loved Shane's family. But later on, Jimmy's insistent, stubborn, self-pity and refusal to see what was right in front of him made me want to pull my hair out.

I was absolutely fascinated by the story. It has exceptional scenes. The sex scenes were the best I've ever read in that they seemed so real, natural, normal and good. There was a heartstopping scene so traumatic and painted so vividly that I think I stopped breathing until it was over. Another scene was so heartwarming that it brought tears to my eyes. So, yes, it is a good story. Unique, intriguing and captivating but too somber for my tastes in romance books.
