How Not to Summon Your True Love by Sasha L. Miller
3.0
If there was one spell I could cast, it would be for this book to be longer.
While I love the fact that we have two asexual protagonists in a story with sorcery and magic politics, I still feel like this book could've been a huge success if it had been more properly paced. Everything happens so quickly, and while I like fast-paced books, this one would've put Sonic the Hedgehog to shame.
I would've also liked more development because we don't end up discovering much about the characters? And they don't end up figuring out much about the other either? What do Cy and Dig know about each other besides the whole magic business and being asexual? Where were all the bonding moments they could have had? What about a serious talk about asexuality and the spectrum? As an ace myself, I would've loved that.
I do still love the concept and the characters though, so that's a couple bonus points for Miller.
3/5
