Belle's Discovery by The Walt Disney Company, Tessa Roehl
2.25
dark relaxing sad

Bullying: Multiple kids talk about how her father is crazy and it's why Belle is so odd behind her back. Starts off with her feelings of loneliness and getting rejected by her peers. They cornered a cat and were trying to tie a blindfold to it. They did blindfold racing, running at top speed blindfolded to see who would get to the finish line.
Cue the sad backstory of the woman who owns the bookshop that her daughter was supposed to run the bookshop but got married extremely quickly and left her alone and grieving that her daughter was gone traveling. Belle asks about it and she gets defensive and says that fairytales and happy endings are only fiction.

Not as cozy as expected. Short montage of fixing the shop without much detail.

Mme Beaumont is portrayed as a much bigger threat than she actually is.Bit stupid stereotype that small French children want a revolution 🤦‍♀️
I prefer Belle in the mystery chapter book.
