Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
by Frederick Douglass
A few weeks ago I finished reading another Frederick Douglass book; My Bondage and my Freedom' which was an excellent account of Frederick's days as a slave, the conditions and treatment he suffered at the hands of cruel slaveholders in the Southern United States and the prejudice he faced daily.
This book is almost identical to the latter and regales the same stories and experiences only in slightly less detail. I read them in the wrong order as this book was written first (hence less detail) I think Frederick revisited his experiences in more detail in 'My Bondage...' they are both very good books but, in my opinion, make similar points and should be read separately rather than together.
