This one felt messier compared to the first. I didn’t dislike it, but at times I did have to convince myself to carry on hoping it’d get better.

At the beginning of this one, there was some really weird stuff happening between Adam and Saira. So, in the first book there’s kinda potential for them to like one another but it ends in “nah, he’s like a brother to me” but then in this one he almost kisses her (while they’re both in relationships btw) but two seconds later is like “oh well I only flirt because I know nothing will ever happen between us”. I feel like the author needs to really figure out how these two are gonna because they keep flipfloping and I’m not a fan.

Also, Saira didn’t learn her lesson from the first book. Remember when she kept Archer becoming a vampire from him and it caused this big drift? Well she did it again. This time we see her not telling Ringo that he’s gonna get tortured…fun. To be fair, they do go through this whole emotional thing where she seemingly has some character development and decides to trust the guys some more. I’ll just have to wait to see if that development stays in the next book.

As much as I’ve been complaining, I did enjoy this one despite it being a bit of a mess. I feel like a lot of things happened to advance the plot and I’m really curious to see what happens next.
