The Gospel of Loki
by Joanne M. Harris
Well.
Going through the comments here I feel many have already eloquently expressed their misgivings and disappointment from this book, so I won't go into detail.
On the one hand it was easy to read and mostly amusing and I definitely can't say I had a lousy time reading it.
On the other hand the book disappointed me somewhat. I suppose I expected it to have more personality and spark, more emotions, and in general, that it would go deeper than it did.
I read Runemarks about 3 years ago and the only reason I haven't read Runelight yet is that life sort of got in the way. I find Runemarks much more...alive and spunky (inlc. the character of Loki) than this book ended up being. Which is interesting, considering Gospel should be spunk and spark galore, being told by the fiery Trickster himself.
But it's still an enjoyable book...just not as great as it could and should have been.
