Thank you so much to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! Overall, I really enjoyed this manga! It does stick very closely to the original Jane Eyre story, so chances are, if you do enjoy the original novel, you'll enjoy this adaptation. While I don't know a ton about art and manga styles in general, I will say that the art was pleasant to look at and did a pretty good job at bringing the characters to life! (Though, I will say, Rochester asking if Jane finds him handsome, while being a sparkly handsome anime man is pretty funny, in a way). I would say that the only actual issue I had with the book is that sometimes, for pacing/adaptation purposes, certain scenes or dialogue were paraphrased or rewritten, and sometimes it came across as anachronistic, which is a little distracting at times. The additional information about the making of the manga was also really informative, interesting, and nice to read. Overall, though, I think it's a solid adaptation. If you enjoyed the original novel, chances are that you'll probably enjoy this! I would probably also recommend this for people who maybe can't or don't want to read the original novel - this version is a lot more digestible, especially for young adult readers. 4 stars!
