The Revenge Playbook by Rachael Allen

4.0

This book was a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. I'm really glad I picked it up! I've been in a slumpy reading mood so I decided to pick up something fun and fluffy and this book was that, but it also covered important issues. It covers rape culture and slut shaming and double standards. It also has a bit of diversity laced in. (It's not the best book for diversity, but it's in there, which is a nice start.)

This book is all about friendship, girl power and revenge. It goes back and forth between when they're doing the dares and when the revenge plan started and it's told in alternating perspectives between the 4 girls. While sometimes I did sometimes get kind of confused between, which perspective I was reading it was usually pretty easy to determine the difference between each girl since they were all very different. Melanie Jane was probably my least favorite, but I did warm up to her towards the end. I really liked the love interests introduced, which is surprising considering how anti-love I've been recently while reading contemporaries. I like the fact that the female friendships were the main point and didn't get overshadowed by the budding romances. Overall this book did a lot of things really well.

I would love to see this as a movie. It would be an amazing chick flick comedy, which I love. If you like contemporaries and girl power definitely pick this book up!
