The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams

4.0

Note: audiobook

Historical novels aren't my go-to, but since I love historical fantasy, I decided to try this one. My love for the English language helped my love for the story, but a couple of things were quite lacking. Mostly the pacing bothered me: I understand the focus on making the slips since it took years and years, but it got a bit repetitive. Besides that, I missed more in-depth feelings and experiences of Esme's heartbreaking moments in life, I felt they were skipped over as quickly as everyday conversation.

I do recommend this novel if you can keep those elements in mind.
