Lady Macbeth
by Ava Reid
I get why others were disappointed, but I went into it knowing nothing about Shakespeares Macbeth, so I didn’t have any expectations going into it. I also didn’t read anything about what it was going to be about, I just grabbed it and immediately read it because I love Ava Reid and some of Shakespeares works. I do think the whole magic aspect and the ending could have been fleshed out a little more, it did feel abrupt and rushed.
I understand people’s discontent with Roscilles character, but I honestly loved her because she was so real. She is a scared 17 year old and far from perfect, and to me she read as a relatable and realistic character. No one is perfect, we are not morally black and white, we are all grey. We don’t all react the way we should or wish we could, we have insecurities, and we have moments of doubt. I personally like reading characters who feel real and relatable in that way.
So that being said, I loved it! I have absolutely loved everything I’ve read from Ava Reid and so I’m probably biased because she can do no wrong in my eyes. This was no exception.
