Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Nothing about this book is unique. This is a plot I’ve read in Red Queen and Ash Princess so this read was quick, easy, painless and therefore disappointing. Six of Crows was SO damn good and this book just doesn’t compare. I hope it’s not too harsh to say but this doesn’t even seem like the same author. Unlike Six of Crows, this book was exceedingly predictable, plain, and almost PG. And also, after reading, I’m now even more confused on what the Netflix show will be about.

Alina is an uninteresting protagonist that kisses everyone, has no backbone, and gets everything handed to her. But am I going to eat my words and read the sequel? Yes, probably. I bought the whole box set trilogy.

This trilogy was almost written 10 years ago so perhaps I’m being a bit harsh. Anyways, hoping for a better sequel and ending. I will still be binge watching the tv show and screaming with excitement. I’m still a Grishaverse fan to the end damn it.
