The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

4.0

Somehow, I’ve never read Huck Finn before now! I read this as part of my project to read through Karen Swallow-Prior’s On Reading Well, along with the specific works she references. I loved it. Laughed until I had tears rolling down my face near the end. I can’t bring myself to give five stars because the deep racism is so hard for me to read. I know it was part of the time and culture, and I honestly appreciated the window Twain opened for me into the mindset of people at the time- it has created good conversations with my kids and caused me to wrestle with true conviction based on Truth and when we are simply following/violating cultural norms.
