This book felt a lot like filler. It did not in my opinion continue the previous book very well, it felt like it needed to take up extra space to make sure the plot wasn't resolved before the next book.

I once again found the relationship lacking. I did not feel emotionally invested at all, even though I did feel it a little for Robbie. Once more telling rather than showing.

I'm getting tired of the writing in these books, it's so repetitive and boring. I felt there were some holes in the story, that were not resolved or explained.

Even though I almost immediately understood what was happening with the plot I still felt confused. The events in the beginning felt disjointed and I understand that's partly intentional but it didn't work out that way.

Also once again the side characters, especially the women, are hard to seperate when it comes to their personalities. The only reason Rico had more of that was because the plot recquired it. The women are just flat one dimensional bad ass characters whose arc revolves around a man. Even Jessie
and her girlfriend
were barely present in the book, and didn't have any development whatsoever.

Also the dissonance between the weight given to certain things in the narative versus the characters, especially when it came to wolf culture.

I also disliked the fact that we've been told the entire series that witchescan'tbe wolves only for it to now happen. I understand that that's been a theme in these books but it still erks me, but I might just be nitpicking. I did like the horror aspects in the final fight, using child soldiers and trapping people in trees, even if I found the way they were resolved too easy or unexplained. The way the childwolves were just contained all of a sudden for example.
