The It Girls by Karen Harper

3.0

The It Girls is a work of historical 'faction'. I enjoyed reading it for the history and pop culture of the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is bizarre in that the parts that seemed most unlikely are true: surviving the Titanic, divorces, sex scandals, amazingly out there women (two in the one family, no less), a husband with an eye patch... the list goes on.
Both Lucile and Elinor Sutherland - sisters who found fame and fortune through writing and courturiership respectively - are mentioned in Downton Abbey, so what's not to love?
