Black Tudors: The Untold Story by Miranda Kaufmann

Though it can feel quite academic at times, Black Tudors paints such a vivid and fascinating story about Africans who lived in Tudor England that any heaviness of the text is forgiven. I learned so much and felt like I was getting to know certain individuals as well as a time and place. This book changed the way I think about black British history and I highly recommend it.
