I really liked the colliding of Will and Lyra. I think they fit together really well as duagonists.

I really appreciate the biblical speculation and thought. It's a little jarring to read that God is an antagonist but the thought and consequences of that notion are what is making me continue with the story.

I said this about the previous book but I really feel that daemons are underutilized. They seem to mostly be there so Pullman can make societal observations in the narration and so that we can think about the consequences of them. Which isn't horrible but they're almost frustratingly inconsequential, except to be a huge vulnerability.

The parts with Lee Scoresby are boring to me. Also its funny that he's supposed to be from Texas because he's the most British Texan I've ever read.

Anyway I do plan to continue with the series, but the third book isn't available on Libby right now and all my holds are full so I'll just need to stake it out and hope it becomes available soon. Honestly if I never pick it up again it's fine. I want to see the conclusion of the story but I'm sure I'll move on from this in no time.
